Entire letter datelined inside ´Iles Marquises, Taivhai, 9 Août, 1863´, written to FRANCE and struck twice in transit with double arc PAPEITI / TAITI in black (Aug 18 on reverse, Aug 22 on obverse). The cover landed at Calais (Dec 16) and charged ´9´ décimes due on receipt. RARE and extremely unusual entire, very early correspondence from these remote Islands, using the French mail.
