YORKSHIRE (BRADFORD) 1603-1970's substantial postal history collection housed in six cover albums showing the development of postal markings from pre-stamp through to the 1970's. The collection commences with a letter from Sir Richard Tempest dated 20th Sept 1603 to the constables of Bingley & Morton requiring them to bring to the next sessions at Bradford six persons who have not paid their rate towards the building of Beckfoot Bridge, then a range of early entires bearing BRADFORD/Ytwo line marks & later BRADFORD Y single line marks of the various mileage marks, PAID AT BRADFORD, PENNY/POST marks, extensive ranges of duplexes upright & sideways, circular date stamps, sqaured circles, postal stationery, 1d red & Surface Printed stamps to various destinations, TOO LATE, PAID/1d, hand struck 'I' & '2', skeleton marks, postage dues, newspapers branch, Bradford - London first flights by N.E Airways etc. Lot also includes PPC's from the area.
