Travaux with the design and the construction of the foundations
and the vessel of the power plant of BUGEY.
The reactor is of the natural uranium-graphite-gas type.
The ring-shaped fuel is cooled inside and outside.
The general dispositions retained are as follows:
• primary circuit integrated in the vessel;
core of the reactor located under the exchangers;
• supporting surface of the reactor resting on a cylinder
which transfers the load upon the bottom of the caisson;
• down circulation of gas in the core of the reactor.
The nominal characteristics of the prestressed concrete enclosure
are as follows:
overall height, 175 ft.; external diameter, 92 ft.;
height of the internal cavity, 125 ft.; diameter of the internal cavity, 56 ft.
thickness of the walls, 18 ft.; thickness of the slabs, 24 ft.
The working conditions are:
working pressure, 45 bars; temperature gradient, 95° F.
For this work, traditional concrete has been used. The volume of
concrete which has been used amounts to 34,000 cu. yds. with
4,500 tons prestressing cables. This work is based on a general sill.THE "COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DE TRAVAUX" was formed as a Public

was successively increased in 1952 and 1955 reaching 21,000,000 francs in 1964.
