Book of Sample Banknotes edited and printed by “ Thomas De La Rue & Company”, possiblycirca 1960s.
A book that seems to be a model or template , in which a collection of sample banknotes were piaced. Seems as as though these books were placed. Seems as thugh these book were issued by the company as a means of showcasing their portfolio and capabilites to a potencial customer, such as a national bank of any counry they pursued business with. This is mere speculation from our part. the book includes, somewhere in the middle pages, a comprehensive text regarding the history and activities of the De La Rue company at the time( apparently 1960 )There is a dedicatory print to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II coronation in 1953.
There was a similiar book, sold in 2008 for 6000 $, through another online auction platform, with different banknotes - mostly South America.
the banknotes in this book are in amazing condition ( EXELENTE) never removed, damaged or stained. Pretty muchuntouched. Should the banknotes be taken off the book and certified for their condition individually, they would surely be worth a very big sum. It is however notable that the book, as it is, with all the banknotes, is an utmost rarity. The front is encraved withthe name of “ De La Rue” in gold.
Dimensions of the book:
