Les poids d'or Akan/Ashanti étaient traditionnellement fabriqués en Afrique de l'Ouest entre le XVe et le XIXe siècle. Souvent nommés "Baoulé", du nom d'une des ethnies vivant au Ghana et en Côte d'Ivoire qui utilisaient ce type de poids, leur nom vernaculaire est "mrammou". Toujours faits de laiton, ces poids étaient utilisés pour mesurer le poids de poussière d'or qui circulait alors comme monnaie d'échange dans ces régions.
